My second son just adore spaghetti bolognese in Pizza Hut and always hassle me to make at home so that he can have as much as he wants instead of just one order from that joint. I browsed the net for the recipes but i got very confused for there are so many versions of this sauce. However, basically most would have minced meat, tomato paste and tomato puree. As such, i decided to just throw in the ingredients at my whim and fancy ha ha ha....wonder how it turn out? Surprisingly it came out pretty good in spite of just using burger meat as the supermarket behind my house ran out of minced meat
Here are what i tossed into the big pot for this sauce.
5 pieces of burger meat (Ramlee brand)
4 beef sausages(Ramlee brand)
1 big tin tomato sauce and 3 tin of water
1 small tin tomato puree
3 tablespoon tomato ketchup
5 cloves of garlic - chopped
1 big yellow onion - chopped
2 celery stalks - sliced
1 carrot - grated
2 tablespoon dried oregano
2 tablespoon dried basil
1 tin button mushroom - sliced
3 tablespoon olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
Heat the olive oil and throw in onion and garlic, dump in the burger meat and pour in the tomato sauce, tomato puree and the water. Put in celery, carrot and mushroom. Let it simmer for half an hour or more. Throw in oregano and dried basil, put salt and pepper to taste. If the sauce get too thick just add in some water. Meanwhile boiled the spaghetti as per instruction on the package. Then of course served hot...enjoy...my kids did and they also wallop the sauce with toasted bread.
