These are the old dinner sets which i collected a few years ago. I don't know why at one point of my life, i started to collect old dinnerwares like in the pictures. I remembered when i was young, these were the dinnerware we used daily. I did barter trade with a few aunts and my mother in law. They gave me complete set for 4 and i gave them new set of supposedly latest design dinnerware...fair right? One time i used this wares to serve when a group of friends came over for lunch. They got excited and we shared many stories which relate to the dinnerwares...
My sisters from KL came to Seremban on Maal Hijrah Public Holiday. As the older one has same passion with me especially in baking, we spend most of our time in my kitchen. The lappy was on my kitchen table as i shared with her my blog and the many sites i visited almost daily when i on the internet. Never had thought that one day i would be browsing the net in the comfort of my kitchen ha ha ha......

Hello Zaitgha, I love your dinnerware. You know, from my experiences of having many home dinner invitations old days in Malaysia, I noticed Malay people, or rather Malay ladies always have beautiful dinnerware or coffee sets.
Practically every Malay home I had dinner, they sure had beautiful dinner sets. Not to mention their delicious food too.
By the way, drop in for coffe when free, you keep well, Zaitgha, Lee.
Zai,
I always admire your bunga kangkung dinnerware, nostalgic!
How your new kitch ni?
Wah..that's a lot! I also collect bits and pieces. I inherited from my grandad a 1940's set of Johnson Bros (or rather I asked from him when I was 15...My aunt then gave me the set when I got married!) That's the only set which I have the rest tak cukup!

zaitgha, kalau minum kopi cap hang tuah dalam cawan classic tu, you ada rasa2 macam puteri gunung ledang tak?? ha ha ha...anyway, the collection tu memang classic, kan? Arwah nenek I kata, dolu-dolu these were the 'in' things! So mak2 zaman tu dok gilaaaaaa lah kumpul sikit2, and ada yg ke Singapore to add to their collections. Sure they all tak sangka, now cucu-cicit they all pulak dok gilaaaaa....mengumpul balik, kan? Kat rumah ni pun, bila khenduri, keluarlah segala bunga kangkung , ros jepun etc etc dinnerware!! you take care!!

zai,
There is an eating place in a Kampong in Lubuk Jong on the way to Rantau panjang that serve rice with 'ayam kampung gulai'. The dish is authentic Kelantanese dish and they are served in dishes like the ones in your pic.
I am fortunate that I have a few pieces left by my late grandmother. Of special interest is the teapot which I will post on my blogsite one of these days.
So old is good now right?
hi Lee,
not all Malay ladies were like that...my late mum usually used our daily dinnerware to serve guests as we could not afford fancy wares at that time...but she was sure a good cook he he so did not really matter what dinnerwares she served her food on ha ha ha....
kina,
mmg nostalgic kan? now if i had guests and i served kampung dishes, i would used these wares....malu ah nak tunjuk my kitchen....

i did batter trade maa...but these type of wares when i was young, dia org tak beli one set...but kalau kenduri people will usually bawak beras or gula or whatever in these plates bungkus dgn kain batik as gifts to those yg host the kenduri...tapi given way before the kenduri la coz barang2 tu di gunakan for the kenduri....

Pak Zawi,

saya pun suka kumpul pinggan lama2 ni....tapi tak banyak sebab susah nak dapat sekarang ni.....cantiknya pinggan tu tertakluk pada kenangan yg ada padanya.....
