She called me many months ago asking if i could do agar-agar rainbow. Never heard of it, asked around and i learned agar-agar magic instead. The agar-agar was supposed to be her wedding favors, she wanted something "lain dari yang lain", but the deal was never materialised. And i thought i would lose her as a customer, maybe not my 'rezeki', i told myself. A few days later, she mailed me if i could do a fondant hantaran cake and told me she wanted the cake ala2 Maya Karin's wedding cake. Alamak, i said to myself.....i never saw 'the' wedding cake. I browsed the net and it was 3 tiers cake, with small black flowers at the side and one big black flower ribbon on top. Of course, for my customer 1 cake was enough as it was for the hantaran(gift). Told her ok and she paid me well in advanced. Then started the hunt for flower ribbon, i dont want those typical flower ribbon selling at the wedding thingy shops. I even asked my former staff to make for me but i didnt have the time to go to her place to collect it. No worry Siti, i still want it, do keep it nicely away from the dust.
I found this particular one in different color only 2 weeks ago, when i was getting the box for Kak Ezza daughter's hantaran. Asked the girl if i could have it in black and she said yup...i was very happy when i chose the ribbon. And that cost me RM19.00 you. And so yesterday, i baked the cake at noon, started working on it after 3.00 after my youngest left for his mengaji school. I was so engrossed with it as the ready made fondant i got was not very cooperative. I didn't hear the handphone ringing at all. ...Apology Zai, i felt really bad as she was calling from in front of my house and after she called the house phone.......
I delivered the cake to Taman Tungku Khursiah before i went to fetch my Angah from school. When my sister saw the cake she called it "Michael Jackson cake" ha ha ha...the cake was chocolote moist.

Gold theme and chocolate moist cupcakes again....
I received a call for this gold theme hantaran request last month, when i spend a few days of the holidays with my siblings in PD. After talking briefly on the phone i asked the girl to follow up through email with details of her request. The next day she smsed me saying she did mail me but no reply .....ha ha ha....a bit impatient weren't we? But , i understand as she wanted to make sure i would accept her request. Told her, no net acces at the place i stayed in but i already slotted her request, so it was as good as done. She also requested to put the cuppies in the nice case and me being very bad at this hantaran case, i went to a few shops selling craft thingies for wedding and all copied design on the shelf he he....it was selling at RM30.00 in the shop and mine i just sold RM20.00 for it. Closed shot in the car under the tree while waiting for a pick up at Tesco, Sban 2. I tak shop pun .....
This is the best spot to put a box of cuppies in the car for delivery. On the floor at the front passenger.
The birthday cuppies was an adhoc request, since the hantaran was chocolate cuppies too i accepted the last minute request as i only need to bake extra cup cakes. Her request was simple deco for a birthday guy. The deco was done using thin royal icing.

My first fondant and a sad and hectic Friday....
Friday, yesterday morning started well enough. Plan of the day was to bake a normal size cake and decorate it with fondant/sugar paste for an engagement gift for today delivery. So far, i tried to stay away from handling fondant on a big cake as i was not confident if i could come out with a decent looking fondant decorated cake. But, since i started baking and selling my bakes, i felt i should made an effort to do it though i was okay if i had to fondant on cupcakes. Hence , i decided to take the challenge yesterday. However, we planned for all we could but God granted. After having breakfast with my boys, i fussed in the kitchen to bake the cake.
I cut the grease paper for the mould, find the recipe and was just about to measure the ingredients, an sms came in. My heart almost dropped as the sms was from my sister in KL telling me that an aunt just passed away. She was my late father's sister in law. I felt for my cousins. Then the phone calls came in. How i was going to KL, if i would bring the boys along etc...etc. My sister in Kuala Pilah came to the house to go to KL with me.
We left for KL just about noon, met my other sisters an hour later and drove up to my kampung just behind Batu Caves. But on the MRR2 i made a wrong exit i ended up driving to Bentong and climbing the road to Genting looking for a U-turn to go back to Batu Caves....urrgggg what a stupid thing to do. I reached the ''last resting place" when the Imam was reading the talqin. I could not enter the place as i was in that time of the month.
I only arrived home at 8 in the evening. Dear hubby took care of the children's dinner by getting the KFC in town. I showered and whipped up the cake batter, put it in the oven and i took it out from the oven at just after 12 midnight. Turn it on the cooling rack and cover the cake, i went to sleep at almost 1.00 am. For a first timer, I am ok with the outcome but i know i have to practice more especially to cover the plate...haissshh...orang problem nak cover the cake i pulak problem to cover the plate he he.....due to the time constraint and first time in handling fondant, i had to be satisfied with the outcome. The 'rombongan' had to be in Johol , N9 at noon. Delivered the cake at 9.00 just now. To yang berkenaan, Selamat Bertunang semoga sampai ke jinjang pelamin. Congratulation....To some baking enthusiasts, Wilton products are the must have and i am no exception. I have been eyeing the cake stand for so long and finally i got it last Monday. I fell in love with the measuring cups when i saw them on the table of Amore-eBake Bakery owner and i had to have them ha ha ha.....very bad ..very bad...I got many of my Wilton products from her at the same price Wilton KL is selling provided i paid in advance if the product is not in her shop. I save my petrol and toll fees this way rather than i went to KL to get these. So, people like me in Seremban is kinda lucky that we didnt have to drive to KL to get Wilton's product...

White and Red wedding gifts
The first request was black and red. I was wondering what i could do with that odd combination for a wedding hantaran(gifts). But 3 nights before the ceremony, the request was changed to white and red. I think that was a better choice of color with the used of 'bakul siah'.
The electricity went off for a few hours while i was halfway doing these. Lucky me that i baked the cupcakes just before noon. I am quite happy with the outcome.
The pictures below, are the gadget that i used . But i didnt snap picture of the jelly cutter that i used to make the wavy lines on the fondant. The cupcakes before being made up but cemented with chocolate ganache.

Carrot walnut cupcakes for wedding gift.....
Not quite sure if the cream color is right .
For someone like me, it was an effort to come out with simple design of wedding gift like above. The first 2 pictures showed the actual colors and the lower picture was taken under the light of my kitchen did not reflect the cream color much. This gift is going to Sungai Siput, Perak later today.
I was supposed to deliver this yesterday evening but so engrossed listening the ICJ about the Batu Putih, i was late he he.....luckily i already had the idea in mind.....
