5th day menu for breaking fast....

Time sure flies. Today is the 6th day of Ramadhan . These were what we had for yesterday break fast. Tried out Butter cookies, refer here for recipe....the boys love the cookies Must have menu homemade or bought...but these were made.....karipap@curry puff

Saw gorgeous 'belimbing buluh' at the wet market, bought and cooked gulai telur chili api with the belimbing...
my version of sambal belacan

My 2 older boys' favorite, sotong goreng tepung. I made this for 5 medium size squids. Clean the squids and cut to get the ring shape(square also can). Wipe dry with kitchen towel (for me i just clean them early in the morning and let them dry in the colander in the fridge until i am ready to fry them). Heat the oil, mix 1 cup of all purpose flour, a table spoon corn flour, salt, ground turmeric, black pepper, chili powder(optional). Beat one egg. Duck the squid in the egg and mix the squid in the flour mixture. Best to use fork or chop stick to mix the squid in the flour and make sure the oil is very hot. Fry only for a few minutes, overcooked squid will turn rubbery.

Zai, sotong goreng tepung tu resepi dia mcm mana ye ? Ke pakai tepung dlm kotak ? Selamat Berpuasa..

so far i have yet to use any tepung dlm kotak selling in the market he he....tak sampai hati nak beli coz senang ajer nak mix from scratch... Selamat Puasa to u too and the recipe i have added in the posting....

tujuan nyer for samples nak jual but decided not to lah coz tak sempat nak kasi org rasa...the kids ate them all ha ha ha...next year maybe

Everytime I come here, macham kena torture tengok your fantastic, delicious culinary expertise.

And you know...I love that fried ikan kembong of yours. I just love fried fish.
And if not for fried fish...and ikan masak assam, pomfret and blimbing...I would still be a bachelor, ha ha.

My wife, that time girlfriend...she knew I had a lot of, ahemmm, girlfriends, so she quietly found out my weakness...fish head curry, ikan goreng, ikan masak assam...and she got her Malay and Nonya friends to teach her crash course.

Saya suka tu ikan chincharu with chillie sambal stuffed inside...and goreng till garing...and she made that!
Habis cherita...lupa all my girlfriends, saya kena sangkut! Ha ha. I always tease her she did not play fair...I married the cook, ha ha.

Zaitgha, bila you buat tu ikan chincharu with chillie sambal, hantar telegram, saya datang chepat, ha ha.
You going to make ketupat for Raya?

Kak Zai, Salam Ramadhan... My MIL is forever giving me belimbing buluh for buah tangan whenever we all balik senawang.. I'm at wits end apa nak buat dgn belimbing buluh ni!! Esp bila bibik tanya nak masak apa dengan ini..? hahaa.. now i'll try gulai telur macam akak jugak la! Thanks!!

thanks Zai for the recipe. nanti I try. I punya version of goreng tepung :
Pukul telur putih sampai kembang. Add a few spoon of corn flour, sikit oyster sauce, pepper and garam. Very nice to make mushroom goreng tepung.

bole ajer...as long as give warning in advance lerr...takut kalau surprise nanti i got nothing in the fridge he he.....i used nozzle 853, 852 pun give similar shape....
