Crab in special sauce....

My oldest son just love seafood. I bought a bit more than a kg of crab on Monday but really did not know what to do with it. I went to my in law's place for coconut milk but its sold out. Thought of doing masak lemak chili api with pineapple. I went home, cleaned the crabs and chucked them in the fridge....At 5 pm, i started to slice a bit of young ginger, garlics and 2 big onions. Fried them in a heated oil about 3 tablespoon, and threw in the crabs. Added 1/4 cups oyster sauce, 2 tblspoon chili sauce, a few dashes of tabasco sauce, 2 tblspoon blended dry chili and 1/2 cup of water. I let it simmered for about 5 minutes and added in fresh grounded black pepper. Stir to incorporated the pepper and served hot with hot white rice.....we enjoyed these until the noses watered ha ha ha........so really do not know what to call this dish but it sure was yum yum.

Look.....who i was with

If only this lovely lady knew how i must had felt before i met her in person in a beautiful afternoon today, she would be laughing her head off.....i think. Honestly, when i told my other half about the invitation to her lunch last week, first thing came out from him was, are you sure you wanna go??....i almost chickened out until i received a reminder from her....ooppsss, i was so nervous i have to bake something to de-stress ha ha ha...

Kinda surprised that she was smaller than she looked in TV3 a few days earlier, i guessed what she said about how tv screen added pounds on her were very true....when finally we found the address given and there she was smiling and greeting us warmly. I saw a few bloggers but i could only recognised Rocky Bru. From under the tent I could see Pak Samad talking with a few people. Caught sight of our Information Minister leaving the house.

I was walking into the wet market behind my house and i saw this headline, i stopped my step, goosebumps all over and bought the paper....i did not do my marketing for today...not in the mood....

Nurin Alert on TV3....Nationwide Urgent Response Information Network

I received sms from a good friend that 3540 Jalan Sudin was on TV3. Quickly went to on the tv and I saw the program was Wanita Hari Ini. They were talking about Nurin Alert. To me the segment dedicated to this was very short but at least that was a start. While they were talking about how it works, i silently prayed that there wont be anymore Nurin's tragedy befall our children. However, we are in a chaos world now and we can never be certain of anything and i know praying alone wont do much. I hope I will hear more about Nurin Alert and hopefully on the morning show in a few radio stations soon, so that if ever the unfortunate incident was to happen again, we would know what to do to assist the authorities. God bless all of us.

Dishes for breaking fast

Dishes that we had for yesterday breaking fast. As the holy Ramadhan is nearing the end, the kids do not seem to request this and that anymore. They just wallop whatever I put on the dinner table. I just made the simplest thing like Kung Pao Chicken, Fry squid in batter and stir fry chinese cabbage. I think most people know how to cook these dishes but if any of you want the recipes, just drop me the words.

Huhh??

As i was sealing plastic jars full of Raya cookies for delivery a few nights ago, my 3rd rascal asked " Ada spare cookies tak?" ""Hahh...my reply, " You think my cookies like tyres ker ada spare?". Merajuk and replied " Baby nak makan sikit pun tak bole"....ha ha ha....i just laughed and told him that people do not usually used the word 'spare' for extra cookies.

Then, on Tuesday night after breaking fast somewhere near Sunway Pyramid with a group of people, when later we headed home using Kesas highway going to Sg Besi. At one sharp corner under a short tunnel, I heard from the back of the car, "Ayah jangan laju jalan kat sekolah tau" and I was stunned.
" Where got sekolah here?" but at the same time a roared of laughter heard. "Baby nak cakap selekoh la mama" chipped the oldest boy.....and the baby was silenced like a few seconds until he saw the ever outstanding big M beside the highway...though just being laughed at, he was grinning from ear to ear...kid

And one morning before the fasting month, after eating his french toast for breakfast he asked me very sweetly," Ma, nak roti dalam patewe, bole?", I was like, "Whatt??" He went to the drawer and took out one small tupperware for the toast and i just burst laughing so early in the morning ha ha ha.......

The pictures below are my version of the famous Pineapple Tarts. Recipe was given to me by my older sister and so far this is my personal favorite because its really tasty and much easier to do as compare to the more commonly seen in the market.

Ingredients,
250g multi purpose flour - sifted
200g selfrising flour - sifted
Orange zest from one fruit
1 1/2 tblspoon orange juice
1 egg
1 egg yolk
250g butter-softened
1 beaten egg for glazing\poppy seeds for decoration
Pineapple jam - can be homemade or store bought( i like Nona brand)

Method:

Beat egg and egg yolk lightly and put aside. Beat butter ( i just used wooden spoon), add in flour and mix until incorporated and add in the beaten eggs, orange zest and the juice. Mix until the mixture become a soft dough. Pinch the dough to get about a thumb size ball and put in the pineapple jam. Brush the balls with beaten egg and sprinkle poppy seeds on top. Bake in paper cup at 175C preheated oven for about 15 - 20 minutes.
